Advanced Data Extraction (ADE)
Advanced Data Extraction, or ADE, is a feature in document capture software that allows the extraction and capture of specific information on a scanned or imported document page. ADE utilizes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to convert the page to text, and then leverages a variety of techniques to pull the required information. Some of the features of ADE for capture include:
- Zone-based Extraction – pulls information from a specific area on the page set through a template.
- Pattern Matching Extraction – this leverages regular expressions to match a set of characters.
- Line-based Extraction – finding line items based on specific patterns. This is used heavily in AP invoice processing.
The main benefit of ADE is a reduction in key strokes for data entry through automated data collection.
